This 8-day tour to Egypt was designed for families, but it is perfect for anyone who has limited time to experience the wonders of this ancient land. There is the opportunily to see the major sites of Cairo and Luxor. An optional side trip allows you to include Abu Simbel.

Itinerary
Day 1, Sunday - Cairo
You will be met upon your arrival and transferred to your hotel near the pyramids.
O/N - Giza

Day 2, Monday - Cairo
This morning you will visit the Giza Plateau with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Sphinx and Valley Temple of Khafra and the Panoramic Overview.
After lunch you will be taken to the Necropolis at Saqqara to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser and the Tomb of Kagemni. Your day will end with a visit to the ancient capital of Memphis with its beautiful colossus of Rameses II

Day 6, Fri - Luxor
A free day in Luxor to explore on your own.
O/N - Luxor

Day 7, Sat - Luxor/Cairo
Fly to Cairo and check into a hotel downtown. The rest of the day is free. REturn to the Museum or explore the world famous Khan el Khalili Bazaar.
O/N - Cairo

Day 8, Sun - Cairo
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Optional Side Trip to Abu Simbel
This option replaces days 6, 7 and 8 of the regular itinerary.

Day 6, Fri - Luxor
Drive to Aswan, stopping along the way to visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the temple at Kom Ombo. Upon your arrival you will se the sights of the city as time permits

Day 3, Tuesday - Cairo/Luxor
After checking out of the hotel, the morning will be spent at the Egyptian Museum with the Treasurers of Tutankhamen.
After lunch you will visit the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. You will fly to Luxor in the evening and check into the garden wing of the Winter Palace.

Day 4, Wednesday - Luxor
Today will be spent visiting Karnak, the world's largest temple complex, built over a period of more than 1,500 years. This will be followed by a tour of Luxor Temple.

Day 7, Sat - Luxor/Cairo
Fly to Abu Simbel to visit the Rock cut temples of Rameses II and his wife Nefertari. Fly to Cairo and check into a downtown hotel. The evening is free. Perhaps you'll want to visit the Khan el Khalili Bazaar.

Day 8, Sun - Cairo
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Day 5, Thursday - Luxor
Today you will cross to the West Bank to visit Egypt’s most beautiful tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
Aftrerward you will be driven to Deir el Bahri and the temple of the female pharaoh, Hatshepsut. The day will end with a visit to Medinet Habu (temple of Rameses III and the best preserved of the New Kingdom temples) and a brief stop at the Colossi of Memnon.
